The main highlight of the new version is the new Dual Protection replication feature. The backup tool adopts the 3-2-1 strategy as recommended by data protection experts, by automatically replicate local backups to the cloud (Acronis Cloud, to be specific.). The combination of local backups and online backups gives you peace of mind, mainly because you know that you still have another safe copy of your data shall something bad happens to one of your backups.
Other new features include a new tray notification center that pushes messages to your desktop tray. These include updates about the status of backups, tips for improving your protection and notifies you on issues that require your actions.
In addition to that, you get to decide the Wi-Fi networks that you want the tool to use to back up your data. Also, if you are using a laptop, you can set the minimum power level for backups or stop backups when on battery. This is to ensure that you have sufficient battery to continue working on your laptop.
That’s not all. Improvements have been made to several aspects of the tool. The new version introduces a new backup format, giving you faster backup and recovery speeds. You can expect a faster and more reliable process of restoring data from the cloud. Meanwhile, Mac users can easily restore data to a new Mac machine, even if the data is spread across APFS volumes on your current system.
The enhanced Acronis Active Protection feature is now more effective at stopping ransomware and cryptojacking. The anti-ransomware also stops illicit service termination attacks. Moreover, you will be informed of the reason a particular process is being monitored or blocked as malicious.
